C.O.O.L. Idealist National Conference

Want to be notified when the 2007 website is up?

Thank you for joining us at Vanderbilt University in Nashville for the 2006 C.O.O.L. Idealist National Conference during the weekend of March 3rd-5th. The conference was an incredible success thanks to the participation of 1,500 student leaders, campus staff, year-of-service members, and nonprofit professionals who travelled from such disparate places as Maine, Alaska, Texas, Hawaii, and Jamaica.

New Stuff!

  • Please check out the Conference Resource Center to find documents and presentation materials from workshops you weren't able to attend. (Note to presenters: you can upload your own documents to the Resource Center through your My Idealist account).
  • Check out your Conference Commitments!
  • Watch this amazing Conference Commitments video produced by Tony Clark (Vanderbilt University), Nic Van Horn (Eastern Tennessee State University), Mark Hand (Vanderbilt University), and Amy Atkinson (Vanderbilt University) during the conference. (Music Credits: "Ode to a Butterfly" by Nickel Creek, "Monument" by Mirah.)
  • Also check out this video from the "'REACH With Me: Community Service Designed with Relationships in Mind" Friday Forum. View as Quicktime file, or Windows Media file. Special thanks to James Hersch for producing this video.
  • Finally, if you haven't already, please take a few moments to give us feedback on your conference experience using this online survey. As in previous years, we look forward to making improvements based on what we hear from you!

For those who were able to join us, we hope the conference exceeded your expectations and that you were able to learn new skills and ideas from the 200 powerful workshops, forums, plenaries, poster sessions, and affinity group meetings that took place over the weekend. We also hope you were able to network with others by attending the Opportunities Fair featuring representatives from 60 amazing nonprofit organizations. Finally, we hope the conference inspired you to take on new challenges, or re-invigorated you to bring new life to existing programs, projects, and campaigns.

We hope to see you next year from March 23-25, 2007 at DePaul University in Chicago, IL!

The C.O.O.L. Idealist National Conference is the largest convening in the country of campus community members involved in service, activism, politics, and socially responsible work. For 22 years, this conference has brought together student leaders and activists, campus administrators, and community members for three days of networking, storytelling, and connection.

In organizing this conference, as in all our work, we are committed to fostering an environment which reflects, supports, and celebrates our collective diversity including age, sex, gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, class, sexual orientation, ability, spirituality, life experience, and point of view.
