Lead a Workshop
Presenter Proposal Review Process
We seek diversity in approach, topic, perspective, and focus, as well as experience level and demographics of presenters.
Proposals will reviewed by members of one of Idealist On Campus' advisory boards, using the criteria listed below. Reviewers may also elect to request additional information and/or use additional criteria in reviewing and selecting proposals. Feedback will be provided upon request. The criteria that will be used to evaluate proposals are:
- Depth of content
- Knowledge of topic
- Experience with presenting to groups
- Reflection of the conference's commitment to a representation of diverse identities and ideas
- Interactive and engaging format
- Encouragement of reflection
- Plans for action
- Overall strength of workshop submission
Notification of acceptance, acceptance with provisions (i.e. suggested changes or additions), or non-acceptance will be sent via email within two weeks of the deadline by which the proposal was submitted.
Conference Tracks
The C.O.O.L. Idealist National Conference program is divided into "tracks," which help participants navigate the approximately 150 90-minute workshops that take place during the weekend. Each track will have workshops associated with it, which will take place on the Saturday and Sunday of the conference. Workshops at the conference will be evenly distributed throughout all of the tracks. Anyone is welcome to submit a proposal for a workshop - students, campus staff members, year of service members, nonprofit staff, faculty, community members, emerging professionals, and anyone else who is interested in speaking to a national audience about how we can all work to build a better world.
These tracks are broad themes that are deemed most interesting and useful to conference participants based on feedback from past attendees, the conference's Student Planning Committee, and the members of our Student Advisory Board. Conference participants can follow one track throughout the conference or attend workshops in many different tracks.
All workshop presenters will need to select their top choices into which their workshop(s) will fall. Please review the list of conference tracks before you begin the online submission process in order to best direct your proposal.
