Description:

The Ecuadorian schools of the Amazon jungle are badly underfunded. Money made available for teachers salaries but nothing more. The subsistence farmers and hunters find it difficult to afford the costs for equipment and school uniforms, leaving no money for anything else.

We believe that reading forms an important part of education, which is why we have set up the Jungle Book Donation Campaign. The aim is to create a mobile library which will service all 8 of the schools along the Arajuno Road, giving 400 children the opportunity to read.

Through donations from our Buy a Book campaign the Arajuno Road Project will buy books and collect any books donated to form a library for every school along the Arajuno Road. Once a week we will visit each of the schools and children will be able to loan and reserve books to take home and read.

How people can help:

We need donations to make this possible. $3 / £1.50 will buy a book, and we will also accept donations of books in Spanish and pre-school / very basic English books.
