Description:

Two days of professional instruction.
Learn the art of clowning from featured professional clown artists. Classes include ballooning, magic, costuming, character development, skits and more.
No food or lodging is provided. See web site for available lodging.

This meeting is for:

Anyone interested in learning about the art of clowning. Beginners, adults (age 14 and older) or Professionals. Classes include ballooning, magic, costuming, character development, and skits.
~ A great family learning experience.
Special clown classes for children (Junior Joey's ), ages 7 to 13 will be available at no cost. At least one parent grandparent or legal guardian must be enrolled in the Adult classes and available. Each child must pre-reregistered and registration(s) received by May 31, 2008. Registration forms for Junior Joey's are accessible from the museum web site. Donations are welcome.
~ No Housing or Meals are Provided.

Bruce"Charlie" Johnson - Instructor
Bruce Johnson has been a clown since 1974. He spent six seasons with outdoor circuses, and eleven years at the Raging Waters Amusement Park in San Dimas, CA. He was also a juggler for special events at Disneyland. including the grand opening of Toontown. Described as a clown whose artistry and skill have reached international status, Bruce is recognized by hi s peers as an entertainment expert and historian. Every year since 1990 he has been on the staff of the University of Wisconsin Clown Camp®**. Bruce was a columnist for Laugh-Makers Variety Journal, and has had over 800 articles published in trade magazines. He wrote the highly acclaimed Comedy Techniques and most recently Creativity For Entertainers trilogy. Bruce holds numerous awards and is a member of; Circus History Society, Clowns of America International, Fellowship of Christian Clowns, Fellowship of Christian Magicians, International Clown Hall of Fame and Research Center, and the World Clown Association, to mention a few. Jim Howle - Professional Clown, Artist & Instructor
Jim Howle graduated from the Ringling Art School and from the very first class of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Clown College in 1968. Touring seven years as tramp clown, "Hobo Jim", with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Circus he performed in "The Greatest Show on Earth" and was the shows official clown artist. In 1994, Jim became an inductee in the International Clown Hall of Fame*. His art work is included in the Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute and the Leningrad Gallery. He has developed his own line of clown noses and clown make-up. Jim is a popular instructor and has taught at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Clown College, the University of Wisconsin Clown Camp®**, Emmett Kelly Memorial Clown School of Performing Arts, and many other locations.
