Description:
Directs the financial and administrative affairs of the organization (Community Council for the Homeless and Community Housing Trust) and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of the Executive Director and Board of Directors. The Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for the organization’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationship with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of fiscal records, the preparation of financial reports, the maintenance of human resource records, the administration of the employee benefits program and information technology (IT) planning and policies. The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting and budgetary controls.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Development, analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of performance against budget, cash flow and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
2. Responsible for supervising and evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting and Operations Department. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet the organizations needs and objectives, and may recommend to the Executive Director and Board of Directors that personnel be hired or removed from those departments.
3. Maintains the organization’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all organizational transactions and assets.
4. Establishes major economic objectives and policies for the organization and prepares reports that outline the organization’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses and net earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
5. Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures and analyzes and reports variances for CCHFP and the Community Housing Trust.
6. Is responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state and local payroll and other applicable taxes.
7. Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
8. Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.
9. Evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
10. Serves as the organizations liaison with outside auditors.
11. Ensures the organizations compliance with Federal, State and Local licensing agencies.
12. Ensures the organizations compliance with requirements for the administration of funds from restricted grants.
13. Responsible for property management of real estate owned by organization.
14. Directs the planning and policies for meeting the organization’s information technology (IT)requirements. Responsible for the maintenance of the organization’s IT networks, hardware and software including attending training classes and seminars to improve the organization’s ability to manage IT systems with a minimum of outside consultation.
Work Hours – Flexible, Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Additional Qualifications:
Masters degree preferred.
Knowlege of Quickbooks.
Knowledge of HUD and Shelter Plus Care a plus.
