Title: Technical Support Specialist

Duties And Responsibilities:
Provides support for the Center's team of faculty, fellows and staff. Working in collaboration with student team, position coordinates and undertakes systematic installation and maintenance of personal computers, peripherals and software. Provides special assistance during events. Works around projects and research on cutting-edge Internet policy issues in a fun, dynamic and deadline-driven environment; provides 1st and 2nd level technical troubleshooting, finding integrated solutions through creative problem solving; is exposed to networking and web-related matters. Reports to Senior Systems Administrator. Term appointment through June 30, 2009; continuation contingent on business needs and funding.
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
Basic Requirements: BSBA or equivalent experience; 2+ years of experience in desktop support or related technology role. Additional Qualifications: The ideal candidate is technically curious, perseverant, and enjoys tinkering and solving dynamic technology problems. She/He should have an interest in/ability to master new software and technology quickly and with minimal training. Must have experience with Windows 200/XP Workstation, MAC OSX, e-mail clients, office productivity tools, software installations and account management. Familiarity with image creation software and Active Directory; working on multi-platform hardware and installation/troubleshooting of adapters, memory and hard drives. Excellent customer service orientation with ability to work with non-technical and technical people, important. Independent work style for managing priorities with little guidance, as well as ability to work in teams, all amidst fast-moving, shifting needs, important. Ability to troubleshoot network problems, familiarity with blogging software, using wikis, and editing web pages, a plus. Interest in media software, including running webcasts and videoconferences, helpful. Able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
