Description:
About Teach For America
Teach For All is a new organization that will support entrepreneurs in other countries who are pursuing the development of the Teach For America and Teach First models locally. These local organizations aim to build the movement to end educational inequity in their countries by calling upon their top recent college graduates to commit two years to teach in high-poverty areas and to become lifelong leaders in the pursuit of expanding educational opportunity. Teach For All was created as a partnership between Teach For America and Teach First and is being incubated as a separate organization within Teach For America.
Local adaptations of Teach For America and Teach First will be established as independent, locally governed, locally-funded organizations. Teach For All will help these local organizations access the knowledge base, tools, and resources that Teach For America and Teach First have developed over time, provided the local organizations establish and maintain certain core programmatic principles and conditions. Over time, Teach For All will grow into a global network of like organizations that will share best practices and involve tens of thousands of top global leaders seeking to collectively maximize their impact in fighting educational inequity.
More than 5,000 Teach For America (www.teachforamerica.org) corps members are teaching in 26 urban and rural regions in the United States, while over 12,000 alumni continue working for the fundamental changes necessary to ensure educational excellence for all children. Teach First (www.teachfirst.org.uk), an adaptation of Teach For America in the U.K., currently fields more than 500 participants in London, Greater Manchester, Birmingham and Nottingham, and its alumni also continue on as leaders in working to expand educational opportunity.
