Job Summary:

WHEDco is seeking an Education Specialist-Network Monitor who will play a crucial role in fostering strengths-based relationships with our childcare providers. The selected candidate will conduct high-quality home monitoring visits, coaching providers on implementing educational activities, creating lesson plans, and enhancing curricula. Additionally, the Education Specialist-Network Monitor will coach Home Visitor Specialists during their monitoring visits and offer guidance to childcare providers. This role also involves modeling the creation of safe and positive learning environments that promote interaction and both academic and personal growth in childcare

programs.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct announced and unannounced coaching and monitoring home visits to assess childcare providers’ compliance with childcare regulations and program requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to connect parents and caregivers to appropriate resources and make necessary referrals to community partners, strengthening the support network for families.
  • Provide guidance to affiliated childcare providers on the implementation of useful curriculum for mixed-age group settings that meets the individual needs of all children.
  • Assist team in outreach, enrollment, and all other administrative tasks.
  • Maintain relationships with community partners who provide mental health, special needs, and other support services for all affiliated providers and families.
  • Guide providers in the use of appropriate curriculum supports that foster hands-on developmentally appropriate and relationship-based interactions with all children.


Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in early childhood or infant/toddler studies required.
  • Master's Degree in education or other related area preferred.
  • Experience teaching children under six years old required for at least 3 years is preferred.
  • Experience working in family childcare and/or with infants and toddlers for at least 3 years.
  • Experience in developing and reviewing curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Experience coaching teachers and/or home-based childcare providers. 
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred. Additional language proficiency in Chinese, Korean, Japanese, or Russian is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse communication styles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint, and excellent overall computer and database skills are necessary for data management and reporting.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required.
  • Values qualities include excellent attention to detail, team-mindedness, organizational skills, and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Willingness to travel within the five boroughs of New York City is necessary for conducting home visits.

Excellent benefits and competitive salary ($55,000 - $65,000) based on experience.
