Bat Conservation International (BCI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending bat extinctions worldwide, seeks a Department Coordinator to join BCI’s Science Team. BCI is a distributed organization with staff across the United States. The Coordinator can live anywhere and will work remotely.
The Science Department Coordinator will join a dynamic organization and a highly progressive team of conservation scientists, reporting directly to the Chief Scientist. The Department Coordinator will manage program administration for research efforts that serve BCI’s mission to conduct high-priority research for bat conservation. The Department Coordinator must be highly collaborative and enjoy working within a mission- and results-driven environment where they can bring their whole self to work and contribute to positive ecological and social change. This position is ideal for an individual committed to conservation with interest and experience in program coordination and administrative support.
Position Description:
The Department Coordinator will be responsible for program administration for BCI’s Science Team, including coordinating cross-functional teams, tracking project deliverables, reviewing and approving timesheets and expense reports, and coordinating reporting and budgets. The Department Coordinator will also administer BCI’s Student Scholarship Program, including leading the annual scholarship application process and developing professional development opportunities for BCI’s Student Scholars.
The responsibilities for this position include coordinating the program administration for BCI’s Science Team. Most notably, the duties include, but are not limited to:
o Administer collaborative projects, including financial and narrative reporting and tracking project deliverables to ensure compliance and scheduled completion.
o Coordinate grant proposal submissions, including proposal budget development.
o Create contracts and track progress with sub-awardees and contractors.
o Liaise with BCI’s Operations Team on financial reporting and budget management.
o Coordinate Science Team meetings to foster collaboration and cohesion in a virtual work environment.
o Administer annual request-for-proposal process for BCI’s student scholarship program.
o Develop and facilitate professional development opportunities for BCI’s student scholar community, including organizing networking events, online trainings, and virtual conferences.
