STATUS: Full-time

Salary:  $51,000 - $53,250 annually

LOCATION: Connecticut

OVERVIEW:  The Love146 Survivor Care Training and Outreach Specialist will provide training and outreach to increase awareness of human trafficking among diverse communities across the state of Connecticut. They will also implement Love146’s prevention education program, Not a Number, and support the identification and referral of youth who might benefit from Love146’s Survivor Care services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement Love146’s training and outreach services with a standard of excellence.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with public and community-based agencies to increase community awareness of human trafficking, and foster access to services.
  • Identify and conduct outreach to marginalized communities disproportionately impacted by trafficking (e.g., BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities)  to provide training and outreach across the state of Connecticut.
  • Coordinate and facilitate outreach events at different community locations including community centers, libraries, churches, schools, social program meetings, etc.
  • Implement Love146’s prevention education curriculum, Not a Number with youth at risk for trafficking exploitation.
  • Work collaboratively with external partners such as residential facilities, after school programs, and other community- and school-based providers to identify, schedule, and coordinate the implementation of Not a Number .
  • Engage in public speaking on the issue of human trafficking and related topic areas as needed (e.g., internet safety, healthy relationships).
  • Work with the Survivor Care Program Director to develop methods to document and track appropriate data, and support program monitoring and evaluation.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Love146’s development and communications teams. 
  • Help promote a culture that fosters a passion for the mission, cooperation, open and frequent communication, teamwork, and common vision.
  • Collaborate and participate in Love 146 meetings.
  • Performs other activities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience in a related field, such as human services, social work, business, or education preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the field of human trafficking, including a thorough understanding of trafficking in the U.S.
  • Prior experience working with at-risk youth.
  • Understanding of the factors that increase youth’s risk to human trafficking.
  • Ability to discuss race and systematic oppression.
  • Knowledge of effective adult and youth training practices.
  • Experience with public speaking and training facilitation.
  • Ability to manage stress and express self-care concerns.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet applications (e.g., Google Drive).
  • Highly motivated, organized, and possessing a professional demeanor, as well as having a sense of compassion for youth at risk of, or surviving, human trafficking.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, current automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.

Community settings, Love146’s headquarter office, and automobile travel.
