Position: Research Analyst and Advocate, USW

Collective Bargaining, Research & Benefits Department

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The largest industrial Union in North America seeks energetic individuals from varying backgrounds that are interested in careers in the labor movement and fighting on behalf of working people.

The USW Collective Bargaining, Research, Benefits and Public Policy Department provides support for collective bargaining in the areas of economics; health care, pension and other benefits; and public policy initiatives.

Travel is required and can be occasionally significant.

The position assists in negotiations, evaluating the financial health of employers,

economic provisions, profit sharing, gainsharing and other variable

compensation plans.  Successful candidates will also be expected to develop analytical and bargaining skills involving health care, pensions and other benefit programs and issues.

Graduate or advanced work preferred, but will consider other candidates with strong backgrounds

Coursework in accounting or finance helpful.

Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers and local union leaders.

A commitment to workers and the labor movement

Proficiency in another language a plus

Salary: Salary range is $70,000 to $108,000, based on experience and education. This is a bargaining unit position, and the contract provides generous health care and retirement benefits.
