Vice President of Fund Development 


The Vice President of Fund Development is a thought partner for the Co-CEOs and responsible for the strategic leadership, design, and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy, and will manage prospect pipelines, spark new fundraising initiatives and partnerships, and develop a fundraising infrastructure for the organization. 


The ideal candidate is a self-starter, strong relationship builder, creative problem solver, and an effective communicator who is skilled in storytelling, and who has a track record of fund development success. 


This position reports directly to the Co-CEO and is based in the organization’s Berkeley office with a hybrid work schedule. The salary for this position is 180k .


SPECIFIC DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish and meet fundraising targets, securing new six-seven figure grants annually

• Collaborate with leadership to stay abreast of organizational priorities, align on opportunities for program support, and effectively communicate our vision

• Diversify funding sources by building pipelines and engaging new foundation prospects 

• Support the Co-CEOs to develop relationships with key foundation leadership, meet regularly to understand their funding priorities, and use research to maintain a diverse donor pipeline for potential future support

• Provide mentorship to the Foundations + Grants Specialist to effectively prepare materials, apply for relevant grants and programs, and ensure timely submission of reports and any other information needed to meet grant requirements

• Identify opportunities to build an individual donor program and solicit corporate sponsorships

• Establish fundraising infrastructure, and implement and maintain donor management systems and development practices to ensure effective record-keeping, tracking, and communication

• Facilitate cross-team collaboration to complete program evaluation and effectively communicate progress and trends through annual reports and email communications

• Serve as an organizational representative at community, business, and philanthropic events 

• Communicate fundraising goals and share updates with key stakeholders to foster a culture of philanthropy, shared accountability, and continuous improvement to meet short and long-term fundraising goals


QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of 7 years in professional fund development positions with experience providing team leadership and mentorship.

• Strong knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising strategies and procedures.

• Extensive knowledge of key philanthropic and business communities, success building partnerships with funders investing in sexual and reproductive health, equity, and aligned priorities a plus.

• Ability to manage budgets and develop financial projections.

• Skilled project manager who is resourceful and consistently follows through with the execution of plans.

• Gifted relationship builder with superb interpersonal skills who connects easily with internal. and external stakeholders at all levels from diverse backgrounds.

• Highly collaborative leader with the ability to inspire others to achieve shared goals.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

• Experience managing commonly used fundraising and/or sales software.

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience required

• Ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail.

• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively at all levels internally and externally and across diverse cultures.

• Ability to multi-task and consistently meet deadlines.

• Computer skills appropriate for the position; including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Docs.

• A strong commitment to reproductive justice and expanding access to abortion services.

• Other duties as assigned.
