Description

THE POINT CDC is dedicated to revitalizing the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx through youth education, environmental justice advocacy, arts & culture, and community development. For 30 years, we have worked tirelessly with our community to overcome the challenges of our neighborhood and to design and rebuild a better Bronx. Our programs include:

  • Youth Development: We support the social development and leadership training of over 500 young people annually, with free programs in community organizing, photography, hip-hop songwriting, and visual arts;

  • Environmental Justice & Community Development: Current efforts include launch of the first Community-Shared Solar project in the Bronx, our free community WiFi network, securing green space in our neighborhood, a youth-run farmstand, and air quality monitoring.

  • Arts & Culture: We cultivate and preserve South Bronx culture, making the arts accessible to residents through theater, dance and music performances, a robust visual arts program, and a long history of public art in the neighborhood.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Communications Coordinator will work with THE POINT leadership and our Education & Arts Coordinator to manage our information/communication system. The responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Implementing strategies that promote THE POINT’s education programs and projects;

  • Writing text for e-blasts and other communications that will be shared with participants and family members (designed with support from our Graphic Designer);

  • Writing press releases about upcoming events;

  • Drafting regular communications with donors to keep them engaged and connected

  • Tracking and analyzing results: reviewing enrollment numbers, open rates and click-thru rates on e-blasts, attendance at special events related to our education programs, donations, and communication from parents.
