The American Lung Association is the oldest voluntary health agency in the U.S., celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2004. Our mission is to promote lung health and prevent lung disease. Our programs in asthma education, clean air advocacy, smoking cessation and support groups for seniors suffering from lung disease are some of the ways we educate and alleviate the pain and depression of living with chronic lung disease like emphysema or asthma. We also created the "Lung Express" - a 40-foot natural gas bus that has been transformed into a museum-on-wheels, visiting elementary schools teaching about the respiratory system and how to keep your lungs healthy. PLease contact our office if you are interested in job opportunities or volunteer/internships.
