Mission:

The Idaho Nonprofit Development Center (INDC) is the only statewide organization dedicated to the success of Idaho’s nonprofit sector.

What do nonprofits do for me and my community?

Every community depends upon the many organizations that operate on a nonprofit basis -- from hospitals and universities to civic clubs and softball leagues. They include foundations, arts, youth and conservation associations as well as groups serving the poor, elderly, disabled and veterans. In essence, nonprofits do what business and government don’t. The nonprofit sector is a powerful entity, essential to our economy, civic society and quality of life.

What does INDC do for nonprofits?

Nonprofits today are under increased scrutiny. Donors demand high levels of accountability, transparency and return on investment. Yet most nonprofits, especially in Idaho, haven’t had access to the sort of training, consulting and research that businesses take for granted to perform at a high level. INDC is a partner with nonprofits in their quest to grow strong, providing a toolbox to help them work more efficiently and a soapbox to increase public awareness, confidence and investment.

TOOLBOX

Training: INDC offers conferences and workshops on effective management practices in towns across the state in a variety of formats and price ranges. INDC staff are available to answer questions, evaluate an organization’s strengths and weaknesses, or customize training for particular needs. INDC’s website is a growing source of information, tools and resources for nonprofits.

INDC is the first western state to offer the Standards for Excellence, a nationally recognized program of recommended practices and ethics designed for nonprofits.

Collaboration: To help overcome isolation, INDC is creating networks of nonprofit leaders so they can share effective practices, mentor each other and develop a new generation of leaders.

SOAPBOX

Public Awareness: To help people understand the vitality and importance of nonprofits, INDC gives presentations statewide on national trends and state issues. We encourage nonprofits to work with each other to build the power necessary to influence decisions that affect our communities.

Research and Information: INDC publishes reports that quantify the heft and breadth of Idaho’s nonprofits and is a clearinghouse for national studies and current trends. We work with the news media and opinion leaders to share research and success stories.

How can I support INDC and Idaho’s nonprofits?

INDC is a registered 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit organization. Contributions to support our mission and underwrite specific programs are tax-deductible. We work with corporations, foundations and individuals to identify investment opportunities that meet organizational and personal giving goals. Please contact us for more information.
