Mission:
CIVIC is a Washington-based nonprofit organization founded by the passionate humanitarian Marla Ruzicka to help victims of war. Marla was killed on April 16, 2005, by a suicide bomb in Baghdad while advocating for the families of Iraqi civilians injured and killed in the crossfire.
CIVIC focuses on the human cost of conflict. We advocate on behalf of victims and their families, working to ensure they receive the attention they deserve in both government policy and the public eye.
CIVIC’s work has helped to create and fund legislation for victims in Afghanistan and Iraq, obtain urgently needed medical care and to shine a spotlight on the devastating effects of war on innocent men, women and children.
