Mission:
Each year suicide claims more lives of Tennesseans than homicide. Yet most suicides are preventable. With public discourse, education, and awareness, each of us can help reduce the frequency of suicide in our communities.
The most important step in prevention is the recognition of the many signs of suicide. With compassion and courage, we can give a loved one hope in time of despair.
The Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network is the statewide organization responsible for implementing the Tennessee Strategy for Suicide Prevention, as defined by the 1999 Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent Suicide. We are a grassroots team of Tennesseans, divided into eight regions under the direction of our statewide Executive Director, working to eliminate the stigma of suicide, educate the community about the warning signs of suicide, and ultimately reduce the rate of suicide in the state of Tennessee.
