Mission:

Founded in 1986 by a group of civic, environmental, and business leaders, to support the creation and implementation of the State Development and Redevelopment Plan, New Jersey Future is the state's oldest and largest smart growth organization. It seeks to secure economic opportunity, community vitality, and quality of life for all citizens of the state by promoting both sustainable growth and environmental preservation. New Jersey Future employs original research, analysis and advocacy to drive policies and build coalitions that help revitalize cities and towns, provide transportation and housing choices, generate new jobs, improve opportunities for the impoverished, and protect natural lands and farm fields. It is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, statewide association of concerned citizens and leaders in government, the community, law and planning, business and education. New Jersey Future operates from an office in Trenton with an 8-person staff and a budget of approximately $870,000. There is a 29-person board of trustees led by an 10-person executive committee.
