This group is for a fundraiser I am working on for an organization called the Futbol Project, which also has a group on this site. I am looking for people who can donate used soccer balls, and volunteers to paint them to be auctioned.
The fundraiser is for my Senior Honors Project at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.

It's spring time, and the weather is getting warmer by the hour, it seems. For most, the soccer season is just getting underway, and brand new balls are being freed from their packages. What are you doing with the old soccer balls that are flat or too worn out to use in competition or practice any longer? If you are planning to throw them out or give them away, why not donate them, and enable kids who do not have any equipment of their own to play the sport the entire world loves?
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be collecting old soccer balls from high school and college teams, clubs, teams, national organizations, and sporting goods stores. These balls will be distributed to local artists who have volunteered to paint them, turning them into works of art. These painted balls will then be auctioned at a future fundraising event for an organization called the Fútbol Project.
What is the Fútbol Project?
The Fútbol Project is a non-profit organization based in Pismo Beach, California. By providing soccer equipment to organizations that work with youth in Central America and South Africa, the purpose of TFP is to empower underprivileged and orphaned children and young adults through sports and to build relationships between the global north and our brothers and sisters in the global south.
Organizations (such as orphanages) that request equipment must propose a "pay it forward" project in which they will help their communities, such as planting trees, cleaning up a park, or painting a building. Pictures of some of these projects can be seen at www.thefutbolproject.org .
Where will the money go?
Funds raised will be used to purchase soccer equipment (normally purchased on site, to save cost and hassle of transport) for the organizations working on "pay it forward" projects with underprivileged and orphaned kids throughout the world.
All who donate soccer balls or volunteer their time to paint them will be acknowledged during the final presentation of this project, called "Paint it Forward" at Marist College. This presentation will be available for viewing at Marist College between Monday, April 28 and Friday, May 2 in the Library. Acknowledgements will also be made at the Fútbol Project fundraiser in California.
Donate just a ball or two or volunteer to paint one!
Through a unique mix of sports and the creative arts, the most beloved pastime in the areas served by The Fútbol Project will continue to be enjoyed by kids throughout the world, and underprivileged communities will continue to benefit from the "pay-it-forward" projects completed by those kids.
To request a brochure about the Fútbol Project, offer a donation, or if you have any questions, please respond at

Thanks for your help!
The proposal for the final presentation for this project is due by Friday, APRIL 18 (VERY SOON!).
If you can donate or volunteer to paint soccer balls, all I need by Friday is a commitment expressed by you for one of the other, so that you can be credited in my presentation at Marist. However, the actual donations and painted balls will not be needed for several months, until the fundraiser actually takes place.
Thanks, and tell others!
