Mission:

The Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation (LDRF) was established in the aftermath of hurricanes
Katrina and Rita by Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco to provide resources for the relief, recovery, and
betterment of its people and communities, ensuring that access and opportunity are available to all as the
state rebuilds.
The Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation (LDRF) is committed to promoting equity and inclusion as
communities build back in Louisiana. Its board and staff are dedicated to funding and promoting strategies
that result in a better, more equitable Louisiana that offers all people – regardless of race, economic status,
and gender – the opportunity for full participation in its economy and society. It strongly believes that
inclusive practices must be a hallmark during the process of rebuilding, equipping displaced people with
the tools to understand, organize, advocate for, and be involved in the decisions that affect their lives and
livelihoods.
The Foundation is wholly independent, governed by an independent board of directors whose members hail
from all affected areas of the state, and was funded by contributions from individuals, companies, and other
foundations.
