The purpose and mission of the Global Community Empowerment Group is to bring together individuals, groups and organizations from around the world to discuss, inspire, generate, and implement ideas on urban renewal. Urban renewal, for GCEG, is understood as the process of strengthening any structural, environmental, economic, social, educational, or other resource for the purpose of transforming a community. This process includes not only improving a community’s infrastructure, housing, and environmental elements, but also building the confidence, motivation, and ability of its people to create social and physical resources for themselves.
