Mission:
Founded in 1933 at the suggestion of Albert Einstein, the International Rescue Committee is the leading nonsectarian, non-profit, voluntary organization providing ongoing relief, protection, and resettlement services for refugees, women, and children worldwide who are the victims of totalitarian oppression and persecution, as well as people uprooted by war, violence, and famine. The IRC is committed to freedom, human dignity, and self-reliance.
Over the past 25 years, the IRC Seattle Regional Office has resettled approximately 16,000 refugees of all ages and from over 25 different countries. Our mission is to help newly arrived refugees become independent and self-supportive by assisting them with temporary financial assistance, housing, cultural orientation, English language study, securing government services, and job training.
