Mission:
XAccess makes affordable load-bearing bicycles a reality for people in the developing world. Utility bikes like the Xtrabike can make the difference between poverty and opportunity, without any negative environmental impact. The Xtrabike is a patented technology licensed to XAccess by its for-profit sister company, Xtracycle LLC. XAccess is a small and nimble organization that connects people from the bike industry, academia, and the NGO community, as well as committed donors and talented volunteers. The organization also promotes awareness about the utility bicycle at home, by donating Xtracycle bikes to community organizations and nonprofits. It is based in the Center for Appropriate Transport in Berkeley, California.
