Mission:

The Association for the Conservation of the Mono Titi is a Costa Rican non-profit organization based in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. The mission of the Association for the Conservation of the Mono Tití is to conserve the biodiversity found in Costa Rica’s Central Pacific and to promote the sustainable development of the region.

Goals
In order to achieve our Mission, we have identified the following goals:
1. To provide more biologically diverse natural areas in the Central Pacific region, with special emphasis on providing more habitat for the mono tití;
2. To improve the overall environmental quality of the Central Pacific region;
3. To make natural ecosystem conservation and regeneration an economically competitive land use for landowners; and,
4. To promote the sustainable development of Costa Rica’s Central Pacific region by facilitating the investment by private businesses and non-governmental organizations in biodiversity conservation.

Activities
To accomplish our goals, the association may engage in the following activities:

1. Expand acreage under forest and other natural ecosystems through an innovative program of environmental services payments to landowners in the Central Pacific region;
2. Fund the direct purchase of particularly fragile or important natural areas;
3. Establish an educational program to increase understanding within the business community about the close linkages between a healthy environment and economic prosperity in the region;
4. Establish an environmental education program for the region’s schoolchildren;
5. Provide assistance to local tourism businesses in implementing environmentally friendly practices such as compost recycling, bio-digesters, solar heating, and sewage treatment.
