Description:

I have intentionally worked solely in the nonprofit sector for over two decades. Primarily, I have worked in grassroots, human-service, and social-change oriented organizations and agencies, staffing, managing, and directing a wide range of programs. For 15 years, I worked in the movement against domestic violence. For 25 years, I have been an LBGT activist. I am a social worker, but not a clinician--I've focused on macro level, nonprofit management, and community organizing. Throughout my career, my focus has been building the capacity of organizations and paid and unpaid staff to lengthen their reach and strengthen their impact. I always focus on ensuring the sustainability of the nonprofits I work for, as a staff member, Board member, or volunteer.

I am currently enrolled in American University/NTL?s Master?s of Science degree in Organization Development to hone my organizational change management skills. I will work as a consultant to nonprofit organizations and socially responsible for-profit businesses as a partner, collaborating to co-create and strengthen organizations to perform authentically, in alignment with their values.

The values embedded in Idealist/Action Without Borders? vision resonate with my own: respect for all, recognition of our interconnectivity, resourceful synergy, and creating positive change. I believe in "acting 'as if'"--living as if this world expected authenticity. I believe that each of us must live as brightly and boldly as our hearts--that we must make ourselves and our world bigger.
