"For some time idealist.org has been suggested to our team as an outlet to connect with like-minded individuals. We're excited to connect with people in all different professions to help us develop into a sustainable organization that creates valuable teaching and learning resources for educators and students. "

Location: mount pleasant, District of Columbia, United States

Description:

I am a teacher in a public charter school and work with four other volunteers on One World Education. Our idea is innovative, youth empowering and changing the way teaching and learning can reach classrooms. We are currently looking for volunteers with teaching, international education and website skills and experience to join our dynamic team.

One World Education (OWEd) is a non-profit organization created in 2007 whose mission is to promote global awareness, literacy and meaningful citizenship for middle and high school students. One World Education is unique because we are developing the first online, academic curriculum built around the primary sources of youth exploring culture. We believe that by encouraging students to Explore, Learn, Share, & Teach, One World Education is creating an environment where the experiences of youth are valued, empowered and built upon to be effective teaching tools for other students to learn about our world. The One World Curriculum will be free for all educators and consists of inter-disciplinary, engaging and standards-based lesson plans designed for students in grades 7-12, and available at www.oneworldeducation.org in 2008.
