Description:
Executive Director, New Hampshire Council of Churches and Executive Director, New Hampshire Bible Society.
The NH Council of Churches enables its members - ten statewide Christian denominations - Catholic – Orthodox – and Protestant, to work together for justice, peace, and the environment; Christian unity; and promotes interfaith understanding and action.
Study Commissions: served on numerous nonprofit and government study commissions including homelessness, development of family support services, status of charitable giving and volunteerism, adolescent suicide, and formation of public policy for families.
Boards of Directors and Advisory Councils: past chairman of the Board of Directors, Volunteer NH!, the state’s AmeriCorps and volunteerism commission.
Served on local school, volunteer association and community groups; statewide association of non-profit organizations, commission on volunteerism, coalitions for children, formation of community alcohol, tobacco and other drug initiatives, enhancing end of life care, abolition of the death penalty, and opposition to slot machine / casino gambling in NH, tobacco taxation, community education discussions; national ecumenical and interreligious coalitions and nonprofit associations addressing social issues including climate change, nuclear disarmament, welfare reform.
Advocacy: created or served on statewide coalitions on behalf of varied concerns including responsible state budgeting in health and human services, fair education taxation, abolition of the death penalty, and responsible state sanctioned gambling without slots or casinos; national advocacy coalitions on economic, peace and environmental issues.
Consultant: on social policy with the National Council of Churches, the Children’s Defense Fund, and state, regional and national professional organizations with ecumenical and inter-faith religious concerns. Founder of numerous statewide and national religious leadership nonprofits. Organizational consultant to business, nonprofit and religious organizations. Coach to executive directors of nonprofit & religious organizations.
Technical assistance to statewide and national organizations in strategic planning, future search, staff professional networking & development.
