PROFILE

1. Rajathi foundation was started in the year ______ by Mr. N Murughasan. Born on 6th June 1948, in a remote village near Madurai in Tamil Nadu, started his primary schooling in Dindugal and secondary schooling at St. Antony’s in Nagapattinam. Despite being outstanding in his studies, thanks to family commitments and compulsions he could not pursue his studies further.

In 1964 he started his early career by stitching sacks in a private company for a paltry sum and then joined M/s. Subaraja Nadar & sons as an Office boy.
Mr. Murughasan authored a non-profitable trust under the name and style “Rajathi foundations” primarily to impart the best education to the poor. What was denied in his early days he staunchly believed the right person should get the right education. He also constituted scholarship to the best outgoing student of St. Antony’s school, his alma mater.
VISIONS, BELIEFS AND VALUES

The NGO foundation on Beliefs, Values, and Indian National Concerns envisions a culture of peace based on justice, solidarity, shared responsibility, harmony, cooperation, compassion, love, wisdom, goodwill and reverence for the sacredness of all life through active peaceful engagement. Infused with a foundation of ethics and values which are universal in nature, transcending the boundaries of religion, ethnicity, gender and geography, the Committee is resolved to help bring about a culture in which we, the peoples of the world, can address together our common concerns in a positive, holistic and transforming way and aim to eradicate the vices of our society. E.g. Poverty and Illiteracy – the root cause of suffering in India

Campaigns

1. "Pledge to save the planet Campaign"

Wipe Carbon is dedicating themselves to Protect Nature and working towards making the planet a healthy environment for all of us.
Every day we are using resources and producing waste. We put a great deal of strain on the earth, so it’s important for all of us to understand our impacts and learn what we can do to live more eco-friendly lives..
Wipe Carbon is a global campaign to drive awareness and action against climate change. Wipe Carbon aims to collect a million pledges from individuals and companies to decrease their carbon dioxide emissions. Small commitments from a large number of individual supporters can make a significant difference to help save the planet.
Small commitments will not cost you a cent but they will make a big difference! How much does it cost to switch off your lights when you’re not using them? Or to switch off your electronics when they are not in use? These are just some of the small habits which we hope to inspire. A million of these small commitments is a big impact. It’s that simple. Each pledge is one more person who cares about the planet. One more person who thinks before they buy or who considers how to reduce the energy waste in their lives. One more person who knows that global warming will not be solved by a single person but by all of us working together. This is what Wipe Carbon is about.
“Our initial goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 tons (200,000,000 pounds); you can help us meet this goal!

2. “Donate a Book Campaign”
Education experts agree that one of the best ways to boost literacy is to give pre-school children access to books in their home language. Children that are taught to read from an early age develop a love of learning which stays with them for life. But there is a severe shortage of books, and most children do not have access to the books that are available - only 20% of our schools have libraries.
India faces a literacy crisis - with our children performing the worst out of 40 other countries in the recent Progress in International Reading Literacy study. The same study found that almost 80% of Indian pupils do not develop basic reading skills by the time they reach grade five.
“Donate-a-Book is a wonderful way to pass on your own love of reading to children who don’t have access to the kinds of books that will help them develop and grow into educated adults,”
Donate-a-Book is a campaign starting on World Literacy Day, promoting literacy and the joy of reading in communities without access to books.
All of the books and magazines we collect are sorted and distributed to rural corporation schools, and govt aided schools. Your gift of books is much appreciated and helps our cause of increasing literacy in communities worldwide. There are more than enough books in the world today-the problem is getting the right books in the right place.
Rajathi Foundation is a non-governmental organization as a social venture seeking to improve global literacy and the environment. Our simple program is a hub to make this happen! We collect books, and sort them for redistribution.
To know more on how you can contribute please contact Ms Sharon at 99400 20666 & 044 – 28110157 & Mr. Siva at 99400 63083.

2. Help fund the various project and programs going on to help spread awareness and literacy amongst the poor and underprivileged
3. Guiding and helping us to meet more people and represent your community aiming for a cause to help “Rajathi Foundation” to grow and become widespread nationally and internationally
