2nd-year social work research grad student with a variety of interests, passionate about empowering disadvantaged populations, especially young people (not just kids) caught up in the justice system and people who have substance abuse issues here and abroad. Having always been the shy and quiet type, I'm finally discovering a passion to speak out advocate for people, and helping them learn to do the same for themselves. I've done volunteer work as an advocate for sexual assault victims and their families and have traveled a little through Central America, picking up some Spanish along the way. I'm working on my public speaking skills and hope to find work community organizing and/or research (a combination of the two would be wonderful).
