Description:

My trip to Ghana, West Africa a few years ago with my ex was a life changing experience that was so deep on a cellular level that there is still much more to uncover and delve into as these many levels have not seen the light of day and remain too protected like a rose bud.

There are few things that have affected me at such a deep level as this trip, let‘s see; the people of the USA electing Obama as our 44th president- this has given me hope; the right to marriage law in Massachusetts- seeing the chinks in the chain of small minded provincialism slowly become disengaged, watching the birth of a child- understanding that life is incredibly profound. Those are a couple of my favorite things, at least today.

What is clear and intrinsically important to me is to be authentic, this means being honest and learning to live life to the utmost. Consequently, I am now single.

While at first this has been startling and a shock to my system, I now see it as a gift. For so long my focus has been on two, to my detriment. Now that the obstacles to honesty within myself have been removed; there are no excuses - it is time to “get ‘er done“. How wonderful to get a “start over card”.

Lessons learned thus far? I am deeper, smarter and more talented than I thought. I like boys again as well as girls- damn where did that come from, must be a dormant bi bone. Laughter and friends are really important since many have fallen by the way side but that’s what happens; the universe provides an opportunity to dump what isn’t working to make room for what will. So life is to be lived.

I commit to living as an artist and trusting my vision, I will swim in the ocean more, learn to be a good surfer, love my body and all of its imperfections, have a lot of orgasms, build schools, make films; tell stories; be an equally good instructor and student, travel extensively, seek out adventures, be the best energy healer that is possible, be jubilant in my outlook, smile like a lunatic and leave a considerable life footprint that would make my ancestors proud.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people; to earn the appreciation of honest critics; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson~
