Description

Support Survivors of Domestic Violence! Training Provided

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VOLUNTEER COUNSELOR

Are you interested in supporting people impacted by domestic violence? Do you want to join a community committed to racial, social and economic justice? Volunteers are the backbone of our agency. We attribute our strong foundation to the support provided by volunteers and to their dedication to supporting survivors of domestic violence. We are deeply committed to our volunteers and experience great joy in providing personal and professional growth opportunities for them.

Please note that this opportunity requires the California state mandated 40 hour Domestic Violence training prior to volunteering. Training will be held online on alternating Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm and in person on alternating Saturdays from 10 am - 4pm. We are unable to offer the training and volunteer opportunities to out of state residents. Participants must be living within the Bay Area as our office is located in San Francisco and services are focused within San Francisco/Bay Area.

Upon successful completion of training, all trainees will begin volunteering on our support line. Currently all shifts are done remotely. Volunteers must have access to a confidental space with phone and internet access. Volunteers answer calls on our support line offering peer counseling, safety planning, information and referrals and act as a connector to other services throughout our organization.  We ask all volunteers to commit to at least four hours of service every week for one year.
