Description:
Volunteer Workers provide direct services to guests at Grace Place. Through living-in you will gain a deeper understanding of homelessness and poverty through close interaction with homeless women and children. Workers must have a desire to serve and live with women who come from homelessness, and to live simply in community with ecological sensitivity.
All Workers are available to guests in one or more 4 hour segments a day for a total of 32 to 40 hours per week.
Main duties include taking in guests, supervision of the house, some case management, sharing administrative functions (scheduling, organizing monthly discussion meetings, seeking contributions, thanking donors, producing a bi-monthly newsletter, etc.) and sharing cooking, housekeeping and maintenance tasks with other volunteers and guests.
Private room with board and toiletries is provided. A commitment of one year is preferred. Workers are not paid, but a very small stipend can be considered for those with no other income, or part-time outside employment may be possible.
Position open until filled.
