Description:

JOIN OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
AND HELP IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE
FOR THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES OF CENTRAL HARLEM!!!

Serve as a volunteer on our Board of Directors and assist in leading and managing the overall operations of a small Harlem nonprofit, nonsectarian organization.

The Rev. Linnette C. Williamson Memorial Park Association, Inc., is one of the few inner-city, urban land trusts in New York City and the United States. We provide services to children and families in Central Harlem as a natural outgrowth of our three vest-pocket parks and gardens, and one open-space children’s playground on West 128th and 129th Streets between 5th and Lenox Avenues.

Here’s how you can improve the quality of life for Harlem families:

FUNDRAISING
Utilize your grant writing and/or research skills; or learn to solicit grants from foundations and corporations in efforts to fulfill our mission.

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Share in the year-round planning, governance and management of our entire organization, including our four public spaces and our annual Summer Youth Enrichment Program operated in partnership with The Bank Street College of Education.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Engage in purposeful interaction with community leadership, and with federal, state and city public officials in efforts to accomplish our goals and objectives.

Expect the following time commitment:
Board of Directors’ meetings occur one evening per month. Other meetings, whether of the Board or special committees, may take place periodically as needed. All leadership, operations management and community involvement activities are a collective board membership effort and involve independent/group dedication in our spare time.

Expect the following rewards:
Knowledge that your efforts enrich the lives of children, families and all residents in Central Harlem. Learn new skills and brainstorm new ideas as we work, together, to solve challenging issues.
