Description:

Be part of a team that makes great things happen.........
Back-Up’s range of summer courses introduce people who are spinally injured to challenging activities like kayaking, sailing and water skiing, in inspirational surroundings. Each course fully integrates spinally injured participants and able bodied ‘buddies’ to tackle the various challenges together. Buddy is the term we use for able bodied course participants who give a general helping hand during the course. Carers (qualified nurses or carers with spinal experience) assist with personal care, and have an opportunity to enjoy the activities too.

Buddies ideally should be physically fit. An open mind and sense of humour are essential, as well as the dedication to raise up to £395 towards costs.

Carer’s have their expenses covered by Back-Up.

“It’s good fun, hard work, with a great group of people” – “I had a real sense of achievement at the end of the week- I would definitely go again”
