Description:

Would you like to spend one day doing something for someone else?
Volunteer as a Friendly Visitor with Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly!

Our elders are over 70 years old, live in the city of Boston, live on less than $8000 a year and are without the support of family or friends. Little Brothers ? Friends of the Elderly in Boston has committed itself to enriching the lives of the elderly and their volunteers by fostering friendships that celebrate life. Such friendships are linked together by shared laughter, time-honored stories, and cherished dreams that teach us about ourselves.

We need volunteers for parties and social events that we hold twice a month. These events are important socialization opportunities for our elders. They are also a lot of fun! Volunteers are needed to drive elders to the parties, set up/clean up, cook, decorate, and entertain.

The time commitment is variable and flexible. Volunteers are contacted when there is an event or an appointment and sign up based on their availability.

If you would like to make a difference in our elders' lives, please contact Volunteer Coordinator, at 617-524-8882

How to Apply:

In order to be matched with an elder person, Little Brothers/Friends of the Elderly?Boston complies with state regulations that requests information from the Criminal History Systems Board pursuant to Chapter 6 ?172C that mandates agencies which accept such individual as a volunteer.

Simply, we require volunteers to complete a CORI. As well, the agency also requires two references. If you choose to escort elders in your car to our event, we ask for a copy of your drivers license and a copy of proof of insurance.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
