Project Summary
----------------------------------------------------
Child Care Project
Based at Quito, Ecuador, volunteers will help out at a Community Center for children of low income families, with the aim of providing these children with a high standard of living. Volunteers will work with children between the ages of two and four whose parent’s are struggling to provide their children with the most basic health and nutrition resources. Domestic abuse is common amongst these families and without this center and the volunteers these children would be neglected.

International volunteer aid, care and supervision are much needed at this program. Volunteers who take part in this project become an integral part of the solution and help improve the quality of life of these children. As a volunteer, you serve as a role model for these children and have the opportunity to turn around their lives.

Urban Education Center Project
Based at Quito, Ecuador, this volunteer project is based in an educational center for underprivileged children in Quito that serves to help these children overcome the socio-economic disadvantages that they experience. The center recognizes the lack of educational resources available to these children and offers workshops and classes to these children. These interactive workshops and classes teach them beneficial life lessons that can be used to enrich their lives.

Our volunteers help to run the workshops and classes alongside local teachers. The educational center relies upon private donations in order to maintain its operations. The financial resources of the center are severely limited, so volunteers play an important role in providing aid to the center in the form of human resource and skills training.

Your Role as a Volunteer
----------------------------------------------------
Volunteers will become directly involved in the lives of these children; from taking them to school, to helping them with their homework, and playing games with them.

There are 6 different types of workshops that you may become involved in. Depending on your skills, interests and the needs of the center, you may participate in any of the following activities:

:: Fine Arts Workshop: Drawing, ceramics, painting and more.
:: On-Stage Expression Workshop: Theatre, juggling, dance and ballet.
:: Music Workshop: Construction of instruments using recycled materials, the development of vocal sound, sound identification, and more.
:: Media Arts Workshop: Teaching the children to use a digital camera, graphic software, photography, and more.
:: Cultural Workshop: Filed trips and excursions to museums, the cinema, art exhibits, and the theatre.
:: New Parent Workshop: Educate parents on raising their new children.

Project Location
----------------------------------------------------
In Ecuador, there are opportunities to hike, bike and mountain climb in every part of the country. Another popular site is Avenue of the Volcanoes-a valley between twin mountain ranges. Visitors can be transported back in time to the colonial town of Cuenca, in full colonial style with cobbled streets, ironwork balconies and red-tiled roofs and a cathedral. The capital of Quito is a modern city frequented by indigenous vendors in their traditional dress. From active volcanoes to snow-peaked mountains, the beautiful Ecuadorian landscape offers a multitude of possibilities.
