Description:

AVA is currently looking to place mature volunteers in orphanages in rural areas of Nepal. Unfortunately due to circumstances in Nepal there are currently over 500 orphanages. At least half of these orphanages are illegally selling their children. This is an extrememly rewarding position. You will stay either right in the orphanage with the children or be placed in a home stay close by.

You have the option of cultural and language training upon arrival in Nepal and will be taken to see some of the local sights. Training starts on the 1st and 15th of every month.

While at the orphanage, you will help the children with their daily duties around the home, with their homework and play with them. In some cases you may take the initiative to teach the children as well.

The orphanage program can be anywhere from 1 week to 5 months. You do not need to speak Nepali. We welcome people to join us in Nepal from all over the world.

Prices start at $295 US and go up depending on how long you would like to stay in Nepal and what training package you choose.

Where does my money go?
Your money covers transportation while you are in Nepal. We will pick you up from the airport, to and from the training village and to and from your placement. It also covers supervision of the projects and staff coming to visit you while you are at your work site and home stay to make sure you are doing well.

Your fee also covers administration costs for our partner organization your host family receives payment for your rent, food and clean water. Money from each volunteer is put into a project fund to help pay for supplies.

Depending on what package you choose, training materials and a language teacher are provided. Also 2 – 4 nights in a hotel and meals are supplied for you while you are staying in Kathmandu and at your home stay during your training.

Other Cost's Incurred
You will also be responsible to pay for your own flight, traveller's health insurance, police report, vaccinations and airport tax. We recommend you bring an extra $25.00 a week for spending money. You may want to eat out and meet up with other volunteers on your weekends. You will most likely want to bring home some souvenirs as well. We also recommend you bring extra money and plan to do some travelling while you are in Nepal. You will find it very cheap in Nepal compared to your own country.
