Description:

Volunteer Kenya has openings for volunteer teachers at our grade school in rural Africa. Our grade school, Epico Jahns, has over 300 students in grades K-5. We build a new classroom each year to accommodate the advancing students and will eventually have a full primary school through Grade 8. Volunteer teachers work alongside our full-time staff of Kenyan teachers. The volunteers help with lesson plans, tutoring, class projects, etc. Our grade school is located in the beautiful setting of Kabula village in western Kenya. Since 1998, we have had over 300 volunteers from all background and numerous countries including the US, Canada, UK, Switz, Australia, Spain, Japan, etc. Volunteer positions are available year round for 1-3 months in length. Please visit http://www.volunteerkenya.org

The Program Fee for one month (per person) is $975 USD. The fee for each additional month is $680 USD. This includes pick-up and return to the Nairobi Airport , program materials and expenses (such as vehicle repair and gas), salaries for the Kenyan staff, and Room and Board. Volunteers receive 3 meals a day, 7 days a week while on the farm. Volunteers are housed in our 4-person volunteer huts located on what used to be a sugarcane farm in the heart of rural Africa . This “sugarcane farm” now contains a primary school, public library and clinic (all built and funded by volunteers and local community members). Not included in this fee are airplane tickets, bus tickets to/from Nairobi / Bungoma-$8USD, trip to/from the airport/Nairobi, safari fees, leisure travel, souvenirs, and food/drink outside of the home stay
