Description:
Are you looking to get away from the hassles and pressures of city life and the
rat-race? Perhaps you want to experience a rural lifestyle, living as
close as possible to nature, in an ecological and environmental yet comfortable lifestyle. If so, then perhaps you may be the person we are looking for.
LCO-France has a new voluntary position available initially for three to six
months for the right person. The position will commence in March or April 2008.
As a LCO volunteer, you will be responsible for your own travel costs to and from the centre, but while at the LCO, in return for a minimum of 35 hours work each week, you will be provided with accommodation, and full board with the team.
You will also need to ensure that you have adequate health and accident insurance to cover you for your stay.
Required skills:
Language. French, spoken and written, and English
Computer. Basic Literacy Ability to use an office package and as LCO France's
purpose is the promotion of Linux and open source software, an awareness of what that is, would be very useful.
Social Ability to communicate both by telephone, and in person.
Duties:
LCO-France has a number of educational projects aimed at the local community.
To realise these you will need to be able to manage these tasks.
1. Where necessary, translate any project concept into french
2. Communicate with those in the local Department who can help.
3. Build working relationships with local Associations in the Region
4. Arrange events at which we can demonstrate the product to parents and
teachers.
The right person will be able to work with the team as well as on their own.
Each member of the team is expected to take part in general household duties, as needed, and during the spring and summer months, help with the organic vegetable garden is always welcomed.
