American Friends Service Committee (AFSC)
Get involved! Join AFSC in its work for peace and social justice!
AFSC is an international peace and social justice organization, and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Since its founding by Quakers in 1917, the AFSC has brought people of diverse backgrounds together to work for and promote human rights in the United States and throughout the world. Its work is based on a Quaker belief in the dignity and worth of every person, and a faith in the power of love and nonviolence to bring about change.
AFSC's Middle East Peace Education Program (MEPEP) maintains an online calendar of Middle-East related events, including political, cultural, and entertainment events throughout Southern California. The MEPEP also sponsors a weekly blast email to members, highlighting events sponsored or co-sponsored by the AFSC. Volunteers are needed to:
• Research Southern California events.
• Review incoming emails from other groups to determine whether to include their events on the MEPEP calendar.
• Post information about each event online (date, time, title, etc.), by completing a simple online form.
• Send MEPEP’s weekly email.
Minimum commitment: 4-5 hours per week
Location: AFSC or home.
