This is an opportunity to work with an amazing and well-resepected organization in an integral role. The Expo Area Chair will serve on the Logistics Committee for the Orange County Heart Walk to be held on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine, CA. The Logistics Committee is the group of volunteers that are responsible for the logisitcal success of the event. The Expo Area Chair responsibilities are as follows:

• Participate in Logistics Committee meetings.

• Ensure the following assignments are completed as scheduled either by following up yourself or recruiting subcommittee members:

• Refreshments: Secure donated refreshments, water and supplies and manage delivery and pick-up of refreshments; make arrangements for leftovers

• Fun Zone & Pet Zone: Work with entertainment/ Fun Zone chair to plan and secure entertainment (i.e. clowns, face painters, etc). Build up area with positive activities / educational materials. Manage delivery and arrival on day of event.

• Vendors: Manage Delivery and set up of Vendor signage, locations and resources, the day before and day of event

• VIP Area: Work with VIP Chair to ensure that food and entertainment are secured

• Survivor Area: Manage delivery and arrival of volunteers and resources on day of event

• Info/First Aid: Secure first aid volunteers and manage arrival on day of event

• Signs and Banners: Manage arrival and set-up of all banners on day of event

• Start! Villages: Secure educational materials, educators, and volunteers to teach CPR, Stroke Screenings and Health Improvement options and manage arrival and set up on day of event

• Attend the Walk, recognition party and other related events.

• Provide evaluation and feedback.

The Expo Area Chair will be an active part of the Logistics Committee for this year's Start! Orange County Heart Walk and will be interested in working with the Logistics Committee on a long-term basis. We are looking for someone who will be available and reliable, as well as someone who is passionate about the mission of the American Heart Association and is willing to participate in this event. The time commitment will be ongoing, with a heavier load in August and September.
