Project Coordinator Local Leaderships Lab (LLL) – Temporary contract (maternity cover)

About the Role

The post-holder will oversee the Local Leaderships Lab (LLL) initiative. More specifically, they will support and monitor effective coordination across the LLL team, the donor(s), partners and other stakeholders. They will be in charge of the development, implementation and monitoring of a workplan, manage internal administration/financial management and communication channels in cooperation with the CIVICUS team assigned to this task. They will facilitate the further co-design of the LLL initiative (and related governance) with representatives of CIVICUS constituencies and NEAR network and will accompany selected local partners in developing their plans and activities. They will also make sure that activities, outcomes, findings and key messages from the initiative are supporting adequately the program’s envisaged learning, communications and influencing agenda, contributing to the CIVICUS strategic plan.

CIVICUS follows a horizontal and cross-cluster operational model. The post-holder will therefore work with and be supported by various clusters and teams. The LLL initiative aims at ensuring that the civil society support ecosystem is informed by the needs and priorities of diverse local civil society actors. In coordination with NEAR Network (based on a joint Theory of Change), through this initiative CIVICUS will enable solidarity and political support for local leadership that recognizes the agency of traditionally excluded civil society actors. 

Key Requirements                                                                                                     

• A minimum of 4 years work experience in a relevant field
• Postgraduate degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, International Relations or another related field, or equivalent work experience
• Experience in grant and project management
• Experience in supervising other colleagues and coordinating with diverse teams/functions.
• Experience in building and maintaining working relationships across diverse teams and geographies, and ability to work collaboratively in “remote work” settings.
• At least 2 years coordinating networks or multi-stakeholder initiatives involving a broad range of actors from diverse countries.
• Experience facilitating virtual and face-to-face meetings with a diverse range of civil society groups
