ORGANIZATION

The Partnership for Public Service is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with a big mission: we’re working to ensure the federal government is dynamic, innovative and that it effectively serves the American people. We’ve got a great team that helps make it happen.

Our staff is diverse in experience and perspective, but at our core, we share a lot of the same traits. We are mission-driven, creative, collaborative, optimistic and inclusive.

Our work is strategic, fast-paced and guided by our values:

  • Passion for public service and our work toward a more effective government.
  • People who promote a culture of learning, leadership, collaboration, inclusion and respect.
  • Persistence to drive change, take strategic risks and deliver results.
  • Promise to be trustworthy, nonpartisan and fiscally responsible.

We hire smart and friendly people who are great at what they do and good to one another in the process. Are you ready to join our team?

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Partnership’s Federal Workforce team helps our government address critical talent gaps by advocating for policies that improve the hiring process, administering internship and fellowship programs that inspire young, diverse talent to public service and helping agencies design and implement new recruitment and retention strategies. This work helps fill the federal talent pipeline and remove the barriers to a career in government. We assist agencies in building workplace cultures that are inclusive and engaging, motivating employees to achieve complex programmatic objectives. Federal Hiring and Employee Engagement interns have the unique opportunity to develop leadership and management skills by helping our team deliver a variety of programs for federal employees and for career development professionals at universities across the country.

During their internship, interns will learn more about project management, data collection and analysis, relationship management, event planning and logistics, customer service, and the federal hiring process. At the end of their term, interns will walk away with a greater understanding of how federal agencies keep their employees engaged and how the federal government builds pipelines of new talent into its workforce. Our team is seeking candidates with an interest in learning about the federal government who are detail-oriented, have solid time management habits and strong written and verbal communications skills, and are comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a willingness to pitch in.
