Massachusetts Citizens for Children

Massachusetts Citizens for Children (MCC) is a non-profit statewide child advocacy organization whose mission is to improve the lives of the state's most vulnerable children. It is a national leader in child abuse prevention. To effect change, MCC works to improve state services for children, pushes for needed legislation and, when necessary, takes legal action. MCC documents unmet needs, evaluates existing programs and policies, and acts as a catalyst to link individuals and groups around common concerns. MCC educates the general public and professionals through conferences, workshops, demonstration projects, publications, public opinion polling, and the media.

MCC’s current projects include: Massachusetts Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Project, a three-year Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded initiative to develop new approaches to child sexual abuse prevention; Kids Count, which publishes data on the status of children; Central MA SBS Prevention Campaign, a county-wide pilot to reduce Shaken Baby Syndrome deaths and injuries in Central Massachusetts; and the Campaign for Children, a non-partisan, citizen education and mobilization project.
