For OCS staff
Information for OCS Professionals
|
Career Services Professionals (OCS = "Office of Career Services") at many colleges and universities use Idealist.org to help their students explore careers in the nonprofit sector.
In order to bring more of these opportunities to undergraduates and graduate students, we partner with colleges and universities across the country to bring Nonprofit Career Fairs to their communities. These fairs allow your students to distribute their resumes, speak informally with nonprofit representatives, and attend a variety of workshops and panel discussions about working in the nonprofit sector.
Additionally, the fairs will enable OCS professionals to meet with nonprofit recruiters and discuss how best to prepare students for a career in this sector. One hour before the fair begins, there is a very informal networking session, where OCS professionals can meet with the nonprofit recruiters before all the other job seekers arrive.
We are seeking OCS professionals to volunteer an hour or two of their time to staff a table offering free resume advice. If you are willing to volunteer the day of the fair, please contact our Career Fair Team at fairs@idealist.org.
We look forward to seeing you at the fair, and hope you can help bring many of your students by letting them know about this opportunity, and, if necessary, by using one of your school's vehicles to get them there.
Admission is free, but if you plan to attend the event and/or the informal networking session before the event, please register to let us know you are coming so we can have additional materials available for you.

If you are interested in hosting one of our Nonprofit Career Fairs at your institution, please contact our Career Fair Team at fairs@idealist.org
Many campuses are parts of communities where the nonprofit sector may not be large enough to warrant a Nonprofit Career Fair that would be attended by a significant number of organizations. If this describes your campus, we are still interested in working with you to provide opportunities for students to learn about the nonprofit sector.
Our "Idealist Career Day" workshops help students explore nonprofit and socially responsible career opportunities, and can be blended with additional panel discussions and even smaller-scale fairs. For more information, contact us.
We are actively pursuing other ways to work more closely with college campuses interested in working with the nonprofit sector. Please share with us creative projects you have started and/or new ideas you want to pursue. There may be ways we can support your efforts and share this information with a broader audience.
