We need your help!

We have worked to fill the Community Action Center with the best resources we could find to support you and your group’s community work, but we know that there’s so much more out there! If you have created resources, have feedback on our current resources or know of resources that you think would be helpful to others engaged in community action, please share them with us!

Send us your stories and photos!

A great way to encourage others to get started in their own community is to offer stories and experiences shared by people who’ve already hosted a Start-Up Meeting or have started a community point, Idealist group or Idealist outreach team. If you’d like to share your story with others on Idealist, please use the following questions as your guide:

  • How do you imagine a better world? What change would you like to see in your community? How have you connected with others to make this change happen?
  • Did you hold a Start-up Meeting? Form an Idealist group? Participate in a project to improve your community? Do you have advice for others who may be just getting started?
  • Did your meeting, group or event receive local or national recognition?

We look forward to learning more!

Submit your stories here (put your text in the body of the message) or give us your suggestions for the Idealist Community Podcast by emailing us at either podcast@idealist.org or podcasts@idealist.org.

Did you take photos, video or audio of your Start-up Meeting, event or community project? We’d love to see them and share them on Idealist!

Connect with other Idealists!

There is a good chance that right now, on different floors of an apartment building somewhere in your country, two people are looking out their windows and wishing there were a garden or a playground below instead of a dirty lot. But acting alone can be difficult, and in many neighborhoods, both rich and poor, there is no way for people to know that they are not alone—that down the street, or two floors above or below them, there may be others who would gladly work with them if they only knew where or how to find them.

Idealist offers many tools to help people connect, first with each other, and then with any organizations that want to work with them. Find out more about joining or starting an Affinity Group and check out the organizations, people and opportunities featured in our database.
