Descripción:

Fundacion AFOS provides deeply meaningful work and cultural immersion for international volunteers in Argentina. Our programs are extremely affordable (as we are an Argentinian non profit) and provide participants with an unforgettable personal and professional experience.

Fundación AFOS is an Argentinean non-profit whose mission is to assist the consolidation and growth of small and midsized NGOs in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. Its main objective is to generate initiatives, projects, and tools for these organizations to carry out their daily tasks and achieve their long-term goals.

Practically any knowledge, ability, skill, talent or capacity can, somehow, help those who need it. Projects are diverse, ranging anywhere from helping children in poor settings to assisting in strategic planning and marketing. For each of these projects we combined Fundacion AFOS’ experience and resources with the help of foreign volunteers who contribute their time, energy, and know-how to support our mission.

Our programs are offered year-round and for any length of time (with a two weeks minimum).

The only requirements are a minimum age of 18, a desire to make a difference and a reasonable knowledge of Spanish to be able to interact with local people (although we can also arrange intensive language courses for those who need them). Program participants put their knowledge to work helping real people and real programs. At the same time they improve their Spanish and have the opportunity to be deeply immersed in the incredible culture of Argentina’s people.

Costs are very affordable and include airport pickup, orientation, placement in the project of your choice, permanent assistance and supervision, accommodation (without meals), local health insurance and a small, much appreciated contribution to the NGO that you volunteer with. Typically, the first month is about $ 630 and $ 280 per month thereafter. This does not include International transportation to Cordoba, meals, or local transportation. The cost of living in Argentina is quite low so entertainment, restaurants, etc. outside of the program are quite affordable. Typical participants report spending around $ 60 a week for meals and transportation.

Volunteers generally stay in our well kept house in the very quiet and safe middle class residential neighborhood which is less than 10 minutes walk to downtown and to the student district. This situation allows our volunteers to make friends fast, to immerse more easily in the local culture and to be in the area where most volunteers prefer to stay. The home accommodates up to 10 guests with 2 -3 beds per room and we can also arrange a private room or more upscale accommodation for slightly more expense.

Our application process is quite easy and fast and usually takes no more than 2 weeks.

Córdoba is a typical university city, it is a safe and modern city with vibrant youth culture. With 1.3 million inhabitants, it is second in stature only to Buenos Aires, although with a much lower cost of living. Blessed in location at the base of breath-taking Sierras, Cordoba is also one of the major tourist destinations for Argentines. Around 3 million tourists from the rest of Argentina and other countries visit Córdoba every year. Founded in 1573, it was one the first Spanish colonial capitals of the region that is now Argentina . The Universidad Nacional de Córdoba is the oldest university in South America , founded in 1613 by the Jesuit Order. The city has many historical monuments preserved from the times of Spanish colonialism, when it was the center of arts and learning, a place of scholars and priests.
