Hi there,

I was wondering if you had any advice on pursuing an MBA with a focus on the non-profit sector. What schools offer such programs?

Good day.

If you check out the 2008 version of "America's Best Graduate Schools" by US News & World report you can flip to the business schools section. It has an inset ranking the top 10 nonprofit programs. They are:

1. Yale University (CT)
2. Harvard University (MA)
3. Stanford University (CA)
4. Northwestern University (Kellogg) (IL)
5. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor (Ross)
6. University of California-Berkeley (Haas)
7. Case Western Reserve University (Weatherhead) (OH)
Duke University (NC)
9. Columbia University (NY)
Dartmouth College (Tuck) (NH)

I hope that helps you out a little bit. Doing an internet search for these business programs can yield more about it, or you could expand the list and look into a more extensive list.

Good luck.

A good resource to evaluate MBA schools with a non-profit focus is Net Impact (www.netimpact.org). They are an organization that seeks to make a positive difference in society through business.

If you go to their website, they publish a free report called "Business as UNusual: The Student Guide to Graduate Business Programs" that rates schools based on their curriculum and mission for positive change.

Another resource for MBAs with Nonprofit Management focus
Date: January 5, 3:34pm
I just learned about this organization: MBA-Nonprofit Connection, that helps support MBAs connect their education to the nonprofit sector through partner business schools. It looks like a useful resource for researching potential MBA programs with a Nonprofit focus and that provide support to its students interested in connecting their MBA education in the sector.
