Description:
Make a difference in 2008!
Who we are:
CT Working Families is a progressive, grassroots political coalition that fights for good wages, strong schools, affordable healthcare, and a better deal for all of us. We make real changes happen by winning elections and holding politicians accountable to their voters.
What this is:
In 2008, Working Families is campaigning at the Presidential, Congressional, and State levels to make our elections mean something – and there are lots of opportunities for progress! We are working for a Congress that stands strong against Iraq, pushing for a Connecticut Legislature that makes healthcare reform a top priority, and demanding economic justice from our elected officials.
Connecticut is at the forefront of progressive change, now that we have passed historic campaign finance laws. Full Public Financing of Elections allows for a more diverse group of candidates, a more sincere dialogue on the issues, and a truer democracy. This groundbreaking law is revitalizing the progressive movement.
Projects include organizing at the local level to pass Paid Sick Leave legislation, qualifying fresh candidates, generating community support for strong leadership, moving voters around issues like healthcare, housing and wages. This is a big year, with ever-changing needs and a lot of innovative projects and unique opportunities.
Who you are:
You are a passionate individual committed to economic and social justice, with the ambition to take on real leadership responsibilities. We are hiring management level staff for a variety of field and canvass campaigns. Field experience is preferable, but not required. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in a career in social justice, politics or community organizing.
