Description:
The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, a powerful voice for working men and women, is seeking Campaign Directors to coordinate private sector organizing campaigns. Campaign Directors will train, motivate and mentor lead organizers to approach organizing campaigns using unique and progressive strategies.
The UFCW is a worker organization focused on issues dedicated to improving employment and living standards for all workers. We are building worker power in our workplaces, communities and the political and legislative arenas to insure that workers and their families participate fully in the rewards of the economy they help sustain.
Job Description: Develop and implement comprehensive organizing campaign elements and goals. Evaluate campaign strategy and tactics and change approach if needed. Provide vision and leadership to staff and others working on the campaign. Build community support for organizing campaigns. Coordinate with other Campaign Directors to execute nationwide actions when necessary. Draft literature to support the campaign. Recruit, train and develop leaders.
Duration: Full time. Posting closes when positions are filled.
Additional Qualifications:
Minimum five years of high level experience in all elements of union organizing, social justice, political action or other progressive campaigns. Basic research skills are required. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills needed. Ability to function in a multi-cultural environment is required. Exercise independent and sound judgment. Commitment to the labor movement is a must. Driver's license is required. Foreign language skills are a plus, but not required.
